Kohli scored his 19th century of Test career against Sri Lanka. This was his 10th century of this year. He has become the captain who has scored the most centuries in a Test in a year.
Before them, this was the record in the name of Australian legendary captain and batsman Ricky Ponting. Captain Ponting, who won Australia for two World Cups, had scored nine hundreds in the year 2009 and 2005. South Africa captain Greame Smith, who scored nine hundreds in a year in 2005.
