In the 90-Year History of Oscars, Indians made us proud several times. In addition, the Indian representation in the Oscars is growing.

Bhanu Athaiya- Indian Spread Desi Charm

Bhanu Athaiya was the first Indian to win an Oscar. Earlier, in 1983 she won Best Costume Design.

This was awarded for her work in the film Gandhi.

Moreover, the Gandhi biopic received several Oscars. The Desi Charm worked and it sweeped the Best Picture award.

In addition, Best Actor, along with 5 other Oscars were presented.

Bhanu Athaiya was the first Indian to be awarded with an Oscar.

Athaiya remains the first Indian to ever win an Oscar in the 90-year history.

Lagaan- Indian at Oscars

Lagaan became a global hit in the year 2002. It was a critically acclaimed periodic drama.

Lagaan, a global hit, received worldwide praise and recognition.

Ashutosh Gowarikar directed this movie.  In addition, it was nominated for Best Foreign Language.

Slumdog Millionaire- Desi Charm sweeps the Oscars

Slumdog Millionaire was a film to remember. Furthermore, everything about it made it memorable for each viewer.

This movie was originally a novel. Hence, it was authored by Vikas Swarup.

Subsequently, the story line was filmed.

Slumdog Millionaire won Best Sound Mixing at the Oscars.

Gulzar and A.R Rahman, the dynamic duo won best original song for Jai Ho.

They received Best Original Song Oscar Award. “Jai Ho” was one of the best hits from the movie. Eventually, it became a global sensation.
