A large number of BJP members in Tamil Nadu have joined the chorale of asking the movie producers of ‘Mersal,’ a revolutionary film starring actor Vijay, to remove the lines that talk about the Goods and Service Tax and the Digital India compaign.
The makers of Mersal, who are apparently considering to give into political weight, have been getting support from all kinds of different backgrounds. The Tamil film industry has likewise endorsed Mersal and Vijay.
Vishal, the president of Tamil Film Producers’ Council has also jumped into support of the movie and the actor Vijay and has issued a statement – “Political leaders asking to remove certain scenes in Mersal is the direct conflict of interest to freedom of expression. In Hollywood, several movies are made mocking the President of the US, it’s democracy and we all have freedom of speech. It is impossible to please everyone. A political party cannot decide what scene or a dialogue should be in a movie if that’s the case, then what’s the use in having the censor board.”
Kamal Haasan, who too has faced similar issues during the release of his movie – “Vishwaroopam” in the past because of the movie’s political weight, said there was no compelling reason to control the film once more.
Mersal was certified. Dont re-censor it . Counter criticism with logical response. Dont silence critics. India will shine when it speaks.

Kamal Hassan tweeted in favour of the movie that “A film which is CERTIFIED by censor board cannot be questioned. If questionable , why censor board at all ? #Mersel.”
